When I first started my company a few years ago I became dangerously close to losing it. I can remember the exact moment I had to make that gut wrenching decision – do I waive the white flag or go all in? I chose to go All In.
I dug my heels in deeper and decided to throw everything I had emotionally, physically and monetarily into building the best resource website for the military community. What happened next was something I could not have predicted or even dreamed would ever happen. Our community wanted more.
Fortunately, one of my first mentors, Norm Brodsky, Founder of Citi Storage and Inc. Magazine columnist sat down with me at a conference and drew a circle on a napkin with wider and wider bands stretching out from the core. He said to me, “here is MilitaryOneClick in the center, you need to Go Bigger!” Music to an entrepreneurs ears – so I did.
I started working with Walt Abbott, my DC SCORE/SBA mentor and developed a plan of growth for the company and a plan for me to remain sane while doing so. The second part was harder and still is. Three years later, I continue to meet with Walt and he still tries to keep me sane.
I knew exactly what MilitaryOneClick could be; how I wanted it to look, how it could solve more problems, answer more questions, but I needed the best team and money, to make that happen. Sound familiar? I was pulling money from our personal savings account to fund every aspect of MilitaryOneClick, therefore, I had to be extremely strategic about spending my tiny budget.
However, the answer was simple. I chose to invest every dollar I had into building a team, one person at a time. We are a people centered company who run a technology based platform – not the other way around.
When you find the resource you were searching for, learn something new from an article, laugh while reading a blog, it’s because a of team of incredible military spouses who are working hard behind the scenes making sure it’s easy to find what you are looking for – and a little bit more.
Every New Year’s eve, I would ask myself what am I going to do this year – keep going or waive the white flag? However, this was the first year, I didn’t ask that question. I already knew the answer. I am All In.

We started the Military Blogger Exchange Network, providing a place for these amazing writers to showcase their talents and find opportunities and many of our bloggers have found paid writing jobs through this platform. They are All In.
