Destressing Your Holidays

The holidays are known as one of the most stressful times of the year. It begins earlier and earlier. We are bombarded by displays, decorations, and ads before Halloween even comes around. People stress out about finding the perfect gift, or where to spend the holidays, or if they should travel at all, or how they are going to afford the perfect holiday. All of this adds up to a lack of enjoyment over the holiday season.

The problem is, when you are so busy stressing about how to make the holidays perfect, you miss out on the entire point of the holidays. They are a time of love, and peace, and magic. If you are only focused on the aspects that stress you out, then there is no room for the rest. The reality is, the holidays don’t have to be an all-consuming stressful time of year.

You can destress your holidays this season. Here are a few tips for how to do just that:

– Limit the number of gifts you buy:
Gift-giving doesn’t have to be an Olympic sport. Just get something small and meaningful for those you love the most.

– Decide where you want to spend the holidays the most:
It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else wants and thinks. But, decide the best place for you and yours to spend the holidays and go with that, it doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks.

– Don’t travel:
If you don’t want to travel, then don’t. It’s expensive and chaotic, and if your heart isn’t in it, it won’t be enjoyable either. So, if you don’t want to do it… Don’t.

– Make the choice to not overspend:
One of the biggest stresses around the holidays is money. Everyone thinks they have to buy all the new decorations, and expensive gifts, etc. But, you don’t have to go through all that.
