
Bernie is out, Biden is the 2020 Democratic nominee, and yet, with COVID-19 going on, I almost have to remind myself that this is still an election year, almost!
Some of us are about 6 weeks into staying home, hoping that the end is in sight. At the same time, we are hearing that it might be a while before life is back to normal…and to quote Zach Efron from High school musical, “we’re all in this together,” so wash your hands.
Since there is a global stop-movement order for military personnel because of the coronavirus pandemic, a new order will double the amount of leave that active duty service members can accrue. That means that the maximum number of leave days moves from 60 to 120. So if you are going through this, at least there is that? And hopefully, these stop-movement orders won't last too long.
As of April 16th, more than 31,800 Air and Army National Guard members have been called to support COVID-19 response efforts. Guard members are doing things such as supporting community-based testing sites, creating additional medical capacity, transporting and distributing medical supplies and food, and more. Our thoughts go out to those serving in this manner, and their families waiting for them back at home.
