It's National Veterans Small Business Week

The Small Business Administration (SBA) has declared November 2nd-6th as National Veterans Small Business Week. This has been set aside as a time to focus on veterans, issues they may face, and the options available to them for sustaining their small businesses. During this time the SBA posts blogs on different topics, holds social media conversations with industry pros, and provides resources to connect veterans with the tools they need for the startup of their businesses.

According to a 2017 report by the SBA, 9% of all U.S. companies are veteran-owned.

The help available to veteran business owners (present and future) from the SBA is not limited to this single week of the year. The SBA Office of Veterans Business Development offers help and support for veterans who are trying to maintain their small business as well as for those who are in the startup phases of their business.

The SBA official site offers many options for learning, networking, and finding startup funds for veteran owned businesses. These options include:

  • Transition Assistance
  • Entrepreneurial Training
  • Stakeholders and Resources
  • Access to Capital
  • Government Contracting
  • Disaster Assistance

If you are a veteran business owner or would like to begin your own business, visit the SBA website to see what kind of aid is available to you and keep an eye out for more helpful tools and tips during this week and going forward.
