Summer at Home? How to Stay Sane

This summer is going to be a bit different. There will be no or limited access to pools, hanging with friends, playgrounds, vacation fun, or any other activities you enjoy during the summer months. 

This summer is going to require a little planning and making a few adjustments to ensure you stay sane. 

Take Me Time

Me time is important for everyone and should be practiced daily (regardless if we’re facing a pandemic or not). Schedule a little time every day to have a moment of silence. Read a book, enjoy your favorite beverage, watch your favorite show, or do something you enjoy—make it all about YOU. It’s your reset moment each day.

Get outside

Even though we are practicing social distancing, fresh air is still needed. A walk or run is a good way to get your mind off of things. If you have kids, join in a game of tag or water sprinkler fun.

Maintain a routine

If you’re a parent, distance learning is over. (Did I just hear you cheer?). As a mother myself, our days will be much more relaxed, but we will maintain a routine. More so around family time and enjoying one another’s company.

Stay in touch with friends

Make that phone call, plan that Facetime chat or zoom call. Stay connected with others on social media.

Laugh

Just laugh.  That’s all I have to say about that. 

This summer can still be fun. Heck, it will be fun! Ensure you’re practicing self-care, remain in contact with others, and try not to stress. Have a safe and fun summer!
