LEVELBasic Understanding

Public speaking and storytelling can help motivate, influence, and empower those who've gone through traumatic experiences. During this session, Greg "HUSH" Williams, host of "The Phiner Life Show" podcast will discuss the therapeutic power of sharing one's experiences through video and audio mediums. Drawing upon his experience as an actor, t.v. host, producer, and U.S. Army public affairs soldier, Greg will share his insight into story telling, the power of improvisation, and how one can find healing through "un filtering" their emotions. Whether it's starting a blog for a transitioning combat veterans or starting a Youtube page for military spouses, we're going to identify how one cannot only find the platform that works for them, but identify how we can heal ourselves through the mic.

Born and raised in Harlem, New York City, Gregory Williams was instilled with a deep set of patriotic values by his grandfather a World War II veteran. Growing up Williams always dreamed of becoming an actor and fulfilled that dream by working on shows to include Law & Order, White Collar, The Blacklist, and many others. One day on a lunch break, Williams decided to fulfill another boyhood dream and that was to follow in his grandfathers footsteps by becoming a U.S. Army soldier. During his 13 year U.S. Army Reserve career as a public affairs sergeant, Williams completed multiple combat tours and became the first ever “Meet Your Army Facebook LIVE” event host. While balancing his civilian career and military career, Williams became involved in non-profit work with Mu Beta Phi Military Fraternity Inc., creating an online talk show called “The PHIner Life Show.” The show is not only aimed at highlighting veteran stories from around the nation, but providing entertaining and educational content for all. You can tune in to The Phiner Life Show on iHeart Podcast, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Youtube.
