LEVELBasic Understanding

Close to 65% of active-duty veterans leave their first civilian jobs within 24 months. The Mission Next consultants spent two years researching why veterans leave their first jobs. Our research showed that veterans struggle to synch or conform to the culture of their civilian organization and simply abandon their new civilian job. A successful transition relies on the ability to truly understand one’s core values and personal vision for this next phase. This crucial step creates the foundation for a successful transition. This program highlights the challenges that will be faced during the transition to the civilian workforce. It begins with a discussion about what the research revealed and includes practical advice that will make the transition smoother. If participants want to continue learning more about the topic, the presenter’s book, Mission Next, includes an entire toolkit to guide transitioning service members through every aspect of the process.
