Halloween is just around the corner, which means that tricks, treats, and horror are just a part of life–especially if you live with someone who loves the holiday. But milspouse life can offer its own (silly) scares, even when it’s not October. Here are a few scenarios that just might shoot a chill down your spine:
1. When you’ve finished packing up the house. . . and you can’t find the cat OR the bag of garbage
2. When you show up to a mandatory fun event. . . and there’s no wine
3. When you show up to a mandatory fun event and there’s wine. . . and you don’t (or can’t) drink
4. When you curse a blue streak. . . in front of your spouse’s commanding officer
5. When you have to make an appointment at the ID office
6. When you’re a male spouse. . .and all of the events you go to start with, “Hi, ladies!”
7. When something goes wrong with your house on base . . . and you have to deal with the housing office
8. When you realize you have no cash for tip, but the commissary bagger is already halfway to your car
9. When you move to a new installation. . . and receive approximately 50,092 invitations for direct sales parties in the first week
10. When you attend a military function as a new spouse. . . and have literally no idea what you should do
11. When a brand-new spouse mentions the year they were born. . . and you realize that’s when you graduated from college
