Are you ready for a good old fashioned Galentine’s Day?!
Thanks to Leslie Knope and Parks and Rec, we now celebrate Galentine’s Day every February 13th. A day set aside for our besties, Valentine’s Day aside, it’s a fun way to celebrate friendships and those who are closest to us.
And you do NOT have to put in the full Leslie Knope effort of personalized gifts and crafts. (We swear she never slept!)
But what you SHOULD do is plan for a day of fun with your ladies, doing whatever it is that you love. Stick to fan favorites, whether that be eating, sipping wine, heading to the spa, or getting in some shopping time. Whatever it is that you love to do with your friends, plan that!
You can go all-out, or you can host a simple coffee with breakfast snacks. Galentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a big deal, it just has to be a fun way to spend the day. Invite over the neighborhood ladies and ask everyone to bring a dish to share.
Sweet pick-me-ups such as goodie bags or small gifts are also a welcome treat. Not to mention a great way to show your gals you appreciate their friendship. Chicky music, shows, and conversation topics are also great options.
As a milspo, it’s likely that you’re celebrating this day with those you haven’t known for very long. There’s no need to put pressure on the friendships, but rather focus on a day that everyone can enjoy. You don’t have to do personalized swag or talk about days from years ago. You can get to know one another and find out what you have in common. If nothing else, it’s a great excuse to make new friends! Basic rules: activity and a snack and/or drink!
Leave the mushy, lovey-dovey stuff for the 14th, but the day prior? It’s all for the ladies to have a good time!
How will you celebrate Galentine’s Day this year? Let us know!
